John Joseph Silveira, Sr.
1930 - December 24, 2007

John J. Silveira, Sr. John Joseph Silveira, Sr. 77, died in his home on December 24, 2007. He was born in Patterson, California and moved to San Diego with his parents, Joseph and Mary. John grew up in Point Loma with his younger brother Joseph, Jr. and graduated from Point Loma High School. After high school he spent four years serving his country as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard. John followed in his father's footsteps and continued a career in the Tuna Fishing Industry. His nickname "Patock", was handed down from his father and was well known in the industry. He purchased two ships of his own and was amongst the first of the fishing Captains to venture off Samoa and the Ivory Coast of Africa. He later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he worked as a supervisor for Carrera de Carrera with his son Gary. John will be deeply missed by his friend and loved ones. He is survived by his wife Mary; their four children; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday, February 9th, at St. Charles Borromeo Parish, 2802 Cadiz Street, Point Loma
