Passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at age 78 at his home in Scripps Ranch, surrounded by his family.
Lee’s parents, Anna and Joaquin Silveira, were immigrants from the Azores Islands, Portugal. Lee was born on October 15, 1931, in Mountain View, California, and at age 4, the family moved to Point Loma. Lee attended Point Loma High School where he played football.
Lee served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant from 1953 to 1955 and drove tanks for his commanding officer. Lee also achieved a meat cutter’s license. He then worked in the Tuna Fishing Industry as a Chief Engineer for 44 years. Lee became a Ham Radio Operator in order to call home often. Lee’s greatest source of pride was his family.
Lee & Celeste (Sally) were married on October 2, 1955 at St. Agnes Church. They were blessed with 4 children: Linda (Vito Giglio), David (passed away in 2008), Deborah Ann Seiter, and Donna (Patrick Adams).
Lee was survived by 7 beautiful grandchildren: Rachelle Bonesteel, Nicole, Michael & Andrew Giglio, Jocelyn Varner, Joseph Seiter & Ryan Silveira; and 1 adorable great-grandchild: Arianna Bonesteel.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 8, from 5-8 p.m. at Beardsley-Mitchell Funeral Home, 1818 Sunset Cliff Blvd., SD 92107.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 9 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1140 Evergreen St., SD 92106. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m. with Mass immediately following. Interment at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 4470 Hilltop Drive, SD 92102.
