David Silveira was born in San Diego, California. He was the second of four children.
David was a lifelong fisherman. He loved the ocean, laughing and his family, his sister said.
Silveira was among four crew members of the Seattle-based Alaska Ranger who died when the fishing vessel sunk off Alaska's Aleutian Islands on Sunday, March 23, 2008. After graduating in 1976 from University of San Diego High School, he began fishing professionally. In the beginning of his fishing career, he worked locally. But, as the San Diego fishing industry declined, he had to work far from home. David was the life of the party. He loved to laugh. He loved to make people laugh. David also liked to hunt with his dog, Maverick, enjoyed old movies and listening to the Beatles.
