Dorothy (Dot) Silva was born in Pt. Loma (Roseville) on November 19, 1921, passed away peacefully in her home in Pt. Loma on Sunday, November 4, 2007. A third generation San Diegan she was 85. She married Manuel a tuna fisherman at St. Agnes Catholic Church in 1941. They were married for 60 years. Dorothy took care of her two sons while Manuel fought in the European theatre of World War II in the Army Air Corp for three years. A homemaker, Dot loved to work with her hands. Especially creating floral arrangements at the Portuguese S. E. S. Hall small chapel (capela) at Festa time. They belonged to two social clubs that were created in the 1940s and met once a month for over fifty years. They were members of the Cabrillo Civic Club No. 16 and the Portuguese American Club. Upon Manuel's retirement of forty years at sea they traveled with friends throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Hawaiian Islands. Dorothy is survived by her three sons Manuel, Jr. (Mary Lee), David and Christopher; six grandchildren Caroline Knaplund (Tim), Matthew Silva (Maggie Brown), Brandon Silva, Ryan and Anthony Silva (Samantha), and Amber Silva; three great-grandchildren Hailee, Alyssa and Ally. Also five sisters Helen, Genevieve, Doris, Maryanne (Joe Silva), and Joanne (Andy Thompson), many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1145 Evergreen St., San Diego, 92106. A luncheon will follow at the Parish Hall. Donations maybe made to the Cabrillo Civic Club, No. 16 Scholarship Fund or San Diego Hospice, 4311 3rd Avenue, San Diego, 92103
