David Silveira Joaquim "Jack", entered into the Kingdom with his family at his side. Joaquim was born in Fuseta-Algarve, Portugal to Joaquim Martins Rico and Rita Da Assuncao. In March of 1960, Joaquim and Vitoria immigrated to the United States and settled in Point Loma. Joquim was a tuna fisherman until the late 70's when foreign competition squelched the San Diego tuna industry. His wife, Vitoria, was the most important part of his life. She passed away on January 17, 2007. He was preceded in death by his son, Tony Rico of Los Angeles. He is survived by son, Helder "Rick" Rico of San Diego, sister, Domingas Rolao, Clarice Marcos and Jeff Smith. Joaquim was a member of St. Therese of Carmel Catholic Church. He also belonged to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Portuguese-American Club and the Cabrillo Social and Civic Club.
