Eduardo Costa, age 65, died peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2009, following a brief battle with cancer and the recent tragic death of his only son Eddy. Eduardo was the oldest of four sons born on November 19, 1943, in Santa Clara, Portugal. He fought in Mozambique during the Portuguese Colonial Wars in the 1960's, married Virginia Pires in Portugal on August 24, 1968, and immigrated to the United States in March of 1969 to live the American dream. A dedicated and hard-working man, Eduardo started his own construction company and found success. His hard working nature and attention to detail provided Eduardo with the luxury of never having to seek out new customers. Aside from his passion for work, Eduardo enjoyed making wine and olives, tending to his vast garden, and spending time with his grandsons.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughters, Michele and Julie; brothers, Manuel, Analido, and Jose, and grandsons, Austin, Bailey, and Carter. He will be sorely missed by many other friends and family members throughout San Diego and Portugal.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. this Saturday, March 14th, (Eduardo would have insisted no one miss work) at St. Kieran's Church in El Cajon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Kieran's church, Children's Hospital, or San Diego Hospice.
