She spent her childhood in Guadalupe, a little town in Santa Barbara County. She moved to Point Loma in 1936, where she attended school at Cabrillo, Dana and Point Loma High. She worked in retail sales at Farley's fine clothing and as an Assistant Buyer at the Marine Base. Elsie was an exquisite seamstress, designing and sewing clothes for her family. She played the accordion, treasured swing dancing and music, was a terrific cook and wine enthusiast, had the ability to grow anything from a branch and could stay up all night assembling puzzles. At the beach one day, Elsie's sisters introduced her to Harry. Harry won her heart over and she fell in love. On October 16, 1955, they declared their love in marriage. From 1977 to 2001, Harry and Elsie ran Sea Trader Liquor & Deli. They were happily married for more than 50 years.
