Maria De Lourdes Avila was born on December 16, 1932, in Azores, Portugal. Beloved daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Costa, loving wife of 55 years to Jose P. Avila, beloved mother to Joseph (Aggie) Avila, and beloved grandmother to Rosa and Joseph. Maria became a resident of San Diego in 1978. She enjoyed being around family and friends, loved gardening and taking long walks with her husband at the beach. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her peaceful passing at the age of 76 on June 30, 2009. She will be deeply missed by many, but never forgotten.

The Visitation will be Monday, July 6th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Beardsley Mitchell Funeral Home, 1818 Sunset Cliffs Blvd. The Rosary will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1145 Evergreen at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m.
